Can you Time the market

A negative start, but a flattish close, that's how the day was for the market today! Mixed cues from the Asian markets kept the market in the negative terrain, but a fairly good trade in European markets revived the market back home, to an extent. Sensex closed at 17,243, up 12 points from the previous close. Nifty shut shop at 5117, also up 12 points. CNX Midcap index ended up 0.8% and BSE smallcap index, up 1.5%. Oil & gas and metal stocks were the favourites, while banking stocks were dumped. Top Sensex gainers include Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra and RIL, while losers are HDFC, HDFC Bank and HUL, among others.
