MUMBAI: Country's largest private sector lender ICICI Bank has won the Asian Banker award for excellence in retail services.

The bank has been selected for the award for its outstanding performance in its remittance business in 2007, a release issued here said on Monday.

Over 150 banks and financial institutions in 23 countries were evaluated as part of the excellence in retail financial services programme, the release said.

ICICI Bank has gained a 25 per cent of the Indian remittance market, despite the challenges from competitors, licensed and unlicensed non-bank remitting houses and regulatory restrictions on foreign market expansions, the bank
said.
