US rice exports up 56% during July 4-10
As per the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), export of rice from US during the period July 4 - 10, 2008 were registered at 96,100 MT, up 56% above the previous week and 8% over the prior 4-week average.
The primary destinations were Nicaragua (20,500 MT), Haiti (18,000 MT), Japan (8,600 MT), the Philippines (8,500 MT), the United Kingdom (6,100 MT), Canada (5,800 MT), and Mexico (5,600 MT).
During the above period, US net sales of 107,200 MT were much improved from the previous week and the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Saudi Arabia (35,300 MT), Mexico (18,100 MT), Nicaragua (13,200 MT), Honduras (12,200 MT), Haiti (8,300 MT), and Jamaica (7,000 MT).
