Mkts: Realty, bank stocks on song; Sensex up 446 pts @ 10:48 hrs
With the Left parties withdrawing their support the government, the uncertainties on the political front have come to an end, at least temporarily. Global crude prices recorded their sharpest fall in nearly four months and triggered hectic buying in stocks across global markets.
The bulls, not to miss out on the opportunity, have taken the lead and driven up prices up sharply on the major Indian bourses this morning. Stocks cutting across sectors and size have moved up and posted strong gains in early trade today.
The Sensex, which vaulted to 13,931.01 after opening with a huge positive gap, is up with a big gain of 446.48 points or 3.34% at 13,796.13 present. At 4112.35, around 34 points down from a high of 4156 it had touched in early trade this morning, the Nifty is up 123.80 points or 3.1% over its previous closing mark.
Bank and realty stocks are among the most impressive gainers. Mirroring the sharp rise in prices of stocks from these sectors, the Bankex and Realty indices have advanced by 4.36% and 4.25% now.
BSE Power, CG and FMCG are up by around 3.5% over their previous closing levels. The Consumer Durables index has moved up by 3.12% and the Oil & Gas index has gained nearly 3%. BSE Auto, Teck, Metal, HC and IT indices are up by 1.5% - 3% at present.
Reflecting investor interest for stocks from midcap and smallcap segments, the BSE Midcap and Smallcap barometers have surged 2.62% and 2.51% respectively.
Banking sector heavyweights ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and State Bank of India are up by around 6.1%, 3.35% and 3% respectively. Yes Bank has notched up a gain of 5.7%. Axis Bank is up by a little over 5%.
Bank of India has moved up by 4.85%. Federal Bank, Punjab National Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Kotak Bank, Karnataka Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Allahabad Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Canara Bank, IDBI Bank, UCO Bank, Bank of Maharashtra and Indian Bank are among the other major gainers in the banking sector.
Among realty stocks, heavyweights DLF and Unitech are up by 4.15% and 4.25% respectively. Anant Raj Industries and HDIL have moved up by over 5%. Sobha Developers has gained 4.85%.
Mahindra Lifespace, Omaxe are up by 4.8%. India Bulls Real Estate, Parsvnath Developers, Ansal Infrastructure, Penland, Phoenix Mills, Akruti City and Puravankara Projects are also up with impressive gains.
Reliance Infrastructure (up nearly 7%) remains the top gainer in the Sensex. Jaiprakash Associates has gained 5.9%. Reliance Communications is up by 5.35%. ITC has gained over 5.25%.
Maruti Suzuki, Tata Consultancy Services, BHEL, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, Grasim Industries, Larsen & Toubro, HDFC, ONGC, Reliance Industries, ACC and NTPC are up by 2.5% - 5% now.
