MUMBAI: Chennai-based BGR Energy has secured a Rs 3100 cr EPC contract from Tamil Nadu Electricity Board for 1x600 MW power project.

The project is part of the expansion of the existing 4x 210 MW thermal power project of TNEB at Mettur. The erection, procurement and commissioning contract involves design, engineering, supply of boiler, steam turbine, generator, and other components.

In the international competitive bidding, the only other bidder was public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.

The 600 MW subcritical power plant is be completed within 39 months, the company said. The project will have 400 and 220 KV Gas insulated substations and also include river water intake pump house and a pipe bridge across river Cauvery
